Summer Slam: 16u Standouts
Sanford Pentagon Summer Slam tournament 16u players who impressed.
Noah Freidel– Tea- Freidel is an all out playmaker that can have the first ten point of a game himself. He will hit the outside shot, drive and pull up, or use his athleticism to finish around the rim. He has crafty handles that creates plays, but also the motor to crash the glass and grind for points.
Dylan Pourier– Box Elder- Pourier is a a solid guard with nice half court handles that make him hard to stop. He has a nice step back jumper or hesitation and go move he uses to finish at the basket in different ways.
Logan Heim– Dell Rapids- Heim is a load inside at 6’9” and uses his size to his advantage and scores under the basket well. The big man also surprisingly has good vision so if he is doubled he can find the open man outside or cutters.
Brady Morgan– Aberdeen- Morgan is a crafty point guard that handles pressure very well and will make the defender pay for playing too close. He has the capability to shoot it from outside. Although, his biggest strength this weekend was getting to the basket or dishing it.
Jacob Prouty– Bryant- Prouty was the top scrapper of the tournament this past weekend. He impressed me the most with his hustle and determination. He fought for almost every point and flew out of bounds several times saving loose balls.
Trejon King– Irene- King was one of the best players in the 16u championship game. He has high awareness on defense and offense that can not be taught. King’s game consists mostly of three pointers, drives, and nicely timed spaced cuts for easy points.
Jharett Bloomenrader– Highmore- Bloomenrader is a high energy big at 6’6” that can stretch the floor with his three pointers, but is also a brute inside. He crashes the offensive glass every time and will bully smaller defenders for easy points.
Daylin Simon– Warner- Simon is a nice sized point guard that can finish in a variety of ways at the rim through contact. He has good handles also that make it hard for defenders to get up on him too closely.
Derek Heitmann– Faulkton- Heitmann crashes offensive boards extremely hard at only 6’0”. His competitiveness is what impressed me the most along with his vision of the court and ability to find the open man.
