Southwest All-American Camp Stock Risers
In the midst of a very competitive camp, there were a number of prospects who were hoping to demonstrate that they can play with the top tier prospects. The following players were the top stock risers from the camp due to their solid performances.
Top Stock Risers
Tyrese Eugene 6’0 PG/SG Ironwood 2018:
Eugene was referred to as the “gem” of the event by camp director Gregg Rosenberg. He was probably the most surprising selection to the Top 20 game. However, he was one of the top defensive and rebounding guards of the whole camp. Moreover, he was great at utilizing screens and creating for himself as well as for others. His ability to get into the paint and finish and find teammates was exceptional.
Ajang Aguek 6’7 PF Ironwood 2018:
Eugene’s teammate at Ironwood did not make a lot of noise in day one, but it is safe to say that he was the most talked about prospect in day two. He was extremely solid in the morning game as him and Nikc Jackson went back and forth. He furthered the talk after an extremely strong performance in the Top 40 game in which he found a way to impact many plays. His motor and defensive versatility earned him a number of compliments from all of the scouts and coaches in attendance. It is safe to say that he was the top of the stock risers and that his stock will continue to soar in July.
DJ McNeal 5’11 PG Agua Fria 2018:
It might be over used but it is extremely accurate when discussing McNeal – he is solid. He is strong, shootings the basketball extremely well, has a high IQ, and attacks the rim with aggression while still looking for teammates. Defensively, he is strong on the ball and does a good job boxing out and rotating in help side. McNeal is a skilled prospect who is worth many college coaches attention.
Nikc Jackson 6’8 PF Rancho Solano 2018:
Although Jackson might have only been in the area for a year, he has made a name for himself quickly. With that said, any time a prospect gets to play against the talent level that was at this camp, we get a good chance to see where they really stack up. Jackson rose to the occasion and showed that he can score in an array of ways. Moreover, he does a great job of running in transition and using his athleticism to create for himself at the rim.
Ty Ty Washington 6’0 PG Cesar Chavez 2021
:
Despite being an incoming freshman, “Ty Ty” is well-known in the basketball community already. He is a very skilled prospect who is at the top of his class. Washington did not look out of place at this event even though he is only going to be an incoming freshman. He is a solid on ball defender and uses on ball screens extremely well. His ability to shoot off of the dribble and in catch and shoot situations is superb regardless of classification. Washington should make noise for Chavez this next season.
