Robert Allen talks junior season, summer ball and latest interest
Robert Allen is a powerful forward at 6’8″, 195 lbs.
The 2018 Edgewater big man averaged 11.8 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks for the Fightin’ Eagles. Edgewater went 23-9 and went to the Class 7A title game before losing to Dillard.
Allen called this past season a life changer.
“Through all the struggles we had made me stronger and tougher,” he told Prep Hoops Florida. “The season came with an enormous amount of ups and down that could have prevented us from our successful season. It was a motivation from going to states my freshman year and my sophomore year losing in the first round.”
He says the biggest part of his game that improved was his attacking.
Allen ran with the Florida Vipers previously, but he’s now with Team CP25 for July. This summer has been all about working on his ball handling and shooting overall.
It all started for Allen in 3rd grade. He stopped playing ball to be a swimmer but then came back to the game in 6th grade.
He has offers from UAB, UNF, Samford, Georgia Southern, Lipscomb, FGCU and Stetson so far. Also, a long list of colleges are expressing interest in his services.
That includes West Virginia, Murray State, College of Charleston, Virginia Tech, Illinois State, VCU, UNC, Virginia, UCLA, Alabama State, Army, Clemson, UConn, Rhode Island, Columbia, Yale, Towson, Lousiana Tech, New Hampshire and Hofstra.
It is just a matter of time before Allen lands, even more, Division I offers. This kid is real and he can guard just about any position on the floor. With his confidence rising, the better off he’ll be this July and beyond.
