Recruiting Report: Tre Jones (2018)
Five star Tre Jones is a two time state champion and the best point guard in the 2018 class. Jones ran through his recruitment with Prep Hoops while at the KC Hardwood Classic.
“Recruiting has been fun but also, it’s been a lot, for sure,” Jones explained a week back. “I will start taking my official visits in the fall if not at the end of the summer. I’m really just trying to take recruiting slow. I’m focused on getting wins in AAU.”
Jones then ran through what stood out the most about each of the five programs recruiting him:
Minnesota: “Minnesota is home, nothing beats home. The campus is 25 driving minutes from my house. My entire family is home right now as Tyus (Jones) is playing for the Timberwolves. That for sure is something that sticks out. Also with Minnesota they’ve become so much better over the past couple years. They were down and then Coach Pitino came in and has picked it up for the Gophers.”
Duke: “I feel like the winning tradition at Duke is something that stands out for as long as I can remember. Obviously my brother Tyus went to Duke and I got to see him win there. But going back to 2010 I’ve been watching them and I was there for the Final Four. So the Duke winning tradition stands out for sure.”
UCLA: “UCLA’s winning tradition stands out as well. Going back to John Wooden and those days, they have had some of the greatest players to ever play the game. Also, the UCLA campus is so beautiful. I think it is one of the best campuses in America.”
USC: “I haven’t been to USC yet but I’ve heard their campus is beautiful as well. Over the past couple years their coaches have been able to lift that program into the top 25 and they are going to stay there.”
Ohio State: “Ohio State’s dominance in many sports is something that is different about them. They have been a powerhouse in basketball and they are also a powerhouse in football too.”
