Recruiting Report: Raquan Battle (2019)
Class of 2019 6’5 guard Raquan Battle of Seattle Rotary EYBL has shown that you can be effective and standout even coming off the bench. Raquan stock has been rising this summer as he looks to land some offers.
Raquan continues to show an ability to slash and make plays around the basket. His length allows him to do a number of different things offensively. Raquan has worked on his jumper. His mid-range pull-up game looked great and he stepped in and knocked down the long ball with consistency as well. Raquan’s footwork and passing coming off ball screens was also something that looked strong. He got to the basket when he wanted too while showing creativity with his finishes. Strong defender known for his slashing ability on the offensive end of the floor.
Raquan was living above the rim for the majority of the showcase. The explosive guard from Maryville-Pulchuck High School showed off his athleticism on the break, in the half court, and on the boards. The three-ball was also falling at a high rate throughout the showcase. Raquan was one of the toughest guards on the day and showed out on both ends of the floor. Rebounds at an elite level from the two-guard position.
During a short interview the young man talked about his game.
“I’m a real good rebounder on both ends of the floor, and I like dunking, when I get the ball I can dunk real easily and finish through contact,” said Raquan.
“I’m trying to improve on just getting stronger because I’m playing against bigger people now, so I’m going to have to use my speed, and it will really help me to get stronger.”
The most impressive thing about watching Raquan is the fact that he doesn’t take plays off. His IQ was on display as he has the ability to play both guard positions fluidly. With the ball he kept his head up, handle sharp, shot it well and found his teammates. Without it, he was able to spot up and come off of screens to hit shots from all over. He was all business in the tournament this past weekend as his dominance lasted from the time he laced up his shoes, all the way until the duration of the final game. Loved the way he attacked the basket, he was the best scorer in transition without question. Raquan uses his length to sky over defenders, rebound effortlessly and defend inside.
