Recruiting Report: Jared Butler (2018)
Jared Butler is a top 100 level player out of Louisiana who has several options around the country. Who is after him the hardest right now? GI talked with Butler today.
Jared Butler is a 6-foot-3, 185 pound combo guard that won’t be at the Peach Jam this week but he did everything he could to get his team there. With 13.6 points, 4.5 assists, and four boards a game in the EYBL for Team MEBO he certainly made an impression.
Butler is a 6-foot-3, 185 pound senior-to-be from Reserve, Louisiana where he attends school at Riverside Academy. Butler is his team’s main playmaker and he looks to show that the next three weeks.
“My goal for July is mainly finish my AAU career off in the best way I can,” Butler said. “I want to display what all the years of hard work and time I put into it. I just can’t wait for the competition and the games really.”
Several schools are in contact but who are the schools in contact the most at this point?
“Right now I hear the most from Alabama, Texas, Cincinnati, Baylor, and Houston,” Jared said.
Minnesota offered Butler in late May. He is one of five combo guards that they have continued to recruit through the summer.
“I still hear from Minnesota and I like their program,” Jared explained. “They are making major moves in college basketball so I like them.”
When it comes to visits Butler has kept his travels to the surrounding states.
“I’ve taken unofficial visits to Alabama, Houston, and Texas,” Butler explained.
