Recruiting Report: Jarius Cook (2018)
Park Center guard Jarius Cook has been working his entire basketball life for one goal, and he achieved that goal this spring with Powerhouse Minnesota.
Powerhouse Minnesota has had a great summer. They won the Northstar Hoops State Tournament and the GPA in June and they were runners-up in the Adidas Prospect Series last weekend. Game after game Cook is continually one of the top performers.
“The part of my game that has grown this year during the AAU season has been my ability to handle the ball as well as my pull up jump shot,” Cook explained. “And what I am most proud of was earning my first scholarship offer, it’s something I’ve always dreamed about.”
Powerhouse sits at 31-10 after playing 41 games in this last four months. There is one tournament left this week in Las Vegas.
“We are in the Bigfoot Hoops tournament this weekend,” Jarius said. “Off the court I just want to spend some time with my teammates, have a good time, and just enjoy the moment while it lasts as it’s our last weekend together.”
Cook earned two offers so far, from Idaho and NDSU. Our feel at Prep Hoops is that more could come this summer.
“I’m hearing from Northern Iowa, Ohio, North Dakota State, West Point (Army), Princeton, Idaho, Cornell, South Dakota, Nebraska Omaha, and Wisconsin-Green Bay,” Cook said. “At the end of AAU my family and I will discuss schools we would like to visit in the upcoming weeks.”
At this time next week Cook will be out of AAU season and focusing on improvement on his own. Plus enjoy some downtime.
“Just continuing to improve strength and skill-wise, as well as spending time with friends and family.”
Cook scored 15 a game for a 20 plus win Park Center team that pushed their way into a top 5-10 ranking last winter.
