Recruiting Report: Jacob Gudorf (2019)
After a 21-4 season a year ago, Brookville junior Jacob Gudorf (2019) returns looking for another great season. After losing several starters from last year, Jacob will be looked upon for leadership in the backcourt, an area where the Blue Devils were successful one year ago.
One skill I like about Jacob is his court awareness and vision. He always knows where he is and where his teammates are. This is one of the reasons why he led the SWBL last year in assists dishing off an average of 6 per game.
“I think I see the court very well and am able to facilitate or break apart a defense”.
Although he distributes the ball well, I wish to see Jacob’s scoring increase next season, especially from beyond the 3PT arc. He shot 25% from downtown but in his defense, he was a young piece on a senior led team that had multiple options in the backcourt to shoot. I expect Jacob to transition from just a set-up man to more of a scoring option for the Blue Devils as well.
A lot of people feel Brookville is not a favorite in Dayton this year because of the amount of talent that graduated from last year. With Jacob returning, Brookville has some hope they can still compete. They will definitely be one of the youngest teams in the city, but that isn’t stopping Gudorf from wanting to be a better teammate and leader for the Blue Devils. Because of his talent as a guard and his upside and potential, he has begun to see interest from several D2 colleges. I see him continuing to be a major part of the Brookville offense for the next 2 years to come.
