Recruiting Report: Ike Nweke (2018)
Ike Nweke, a class of 2018 forward at Georgetown Prep, has a good chance to be one of the more productive players at his position in the DMV this season. After a breakout summer on the EYBL with Team Melo, the 6’7 rising senior has seen his recruitment trend up.
“I’m a hard worker. I can shoot the mid-range. I like to go after rebounds, and I can guard different positions,” Nweke explained. “I think I lead the team pretty well. I also talk a lot.”
Each time he hits the court, Nweke is a threat to record a double-double. He displays good box out fundamentals on the defensive end, and relentlessly crashes the boards offensively. Nweke has worked hard to improve various aspects of his offensive game, but admits that area of his game is still a work in progress.
“The most improved aspect of my game is my jump shot,” said Nweke. “I need to work on my ball-handling, and my perimeter game so I can be more of a matchup problem at the college level.”
At Georgetown Prep, Nweke is taking all AP and honors classes. He has a steady 3.0 unweighted GPA. Colgate, New Hampshire, Army, Columbia, Brown, Navy, Bryant, Loyola, and Lafayette are the schools he currently holds offers from. Lehigh, Ole Miss, UVA, TCU, Davidson, and Boston University are among those expressing interest. What can Nweke bring to a college program?
“I bring energy, rebounding, good attitude, making shots, and strong work ethic.”
