Ethan Brittain-Watts – 6’2” | G | Culver Academies | Indy Heat 16U EYBL
Recruiting Report following Nike Peach Jam
Ethan Brittain-Watts is a prospect who has shown quick growth in the recent months. Ethan is coming off a stellar performance at the Nike Peach Jam in Augusta, GA this past weekend. He helped the team to their first ever Peach Jam bid in Indy Heat program history [https://prephoops.com/2017/06/spiece-indy-heat-16u-eybl-earns-peach-jam-bid/]. They didn’t stop there, they went on to make it to the Final Four of the E16 group before losing to a tough Athletes of Tomorrow (AOT). AOT finished as the runner-up at Peach Jam.
Not only did Brittain-Watts help them get there, he performed at an elite level once they got there. Ethan had 12 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds in their Elite Eight win and had 21 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds in a pool play win.
“It was fun. Great experience playing on the biggest stage in front of the biggest coaches. The atmosphere was great. Packed games with standing room only.”
Brittain-Watts is looking to have a standout year with Culver Academies coming off a strong summer. He is really starting to turn heads and get the attention of college programs. True point guard mentality with the ability to score the ball from all three levels in a multitude of ways.
“I think I did a good job of leading the team and being the floor general. Knowing when to make plays and when to dish it off while being vocal is something I’ve worked on and will continue to work on.”
Leading comes naturally to Ethan and he is always demanding the best out of his team. Indy Heat 16U EYBL was considered an underdog team heading into the Peach Jam and they really showed out.
Ethan was recently offered by Coach Jack Owens and the coaching staff of Miami (OH) University [https://twitter.com/ethan_watts13/status/882632054701273088]. “I went down, had a great visit, and got offered. Coach Owens told me that he wants me there and sees me fitting great.”
This is just the beginning for Ethan. His name will continue to be on college program scouting reports throughout his final two years of high school. Keep an eye on him as his recruiting is sure to take off.
