Recruiting Report: Corvon Seales (2018)
A hot commodity not just in Iowa, but around the Midwest right now is North Scott rising senior Corvon Seales.
The 6-foot 3 guard, and Iowa’s 23rd-ranked 2018, Seales has been turning heads with regularity this spring and summer while playing with Quad City Elite 17U.
Last weekend while dazzling at the NY2LA Next Level Invitational, he finally nabbed his first two offers, from D2s Sioux Falls and Northern Michigan.
We spoke with Seales just before he picked up that first offer from Sioux Falls, and it was the first school he mentioned that was recruiting him. Whereas the Northern Michigan offer came as a bit of a surprise.
“Right now it’s Sioux Falls, Rockhurst, Montana State, Evansville, Nebraska-Omaha, Northwest Missouri State, Western Illinois,” said Seales.
“Northwest Missouri State has been contacting me the most right now.”
He added: “I’ll just go where’s best for me. I don’t really care about D1 or D2.”
With some nice height, especially compared to other high school guards, Seales says exploiting smaller guards is what he’s been working on most of late.
“I’ve really worked on my post game a lot, just trying to get better in the post with my footwork,” said Seales. “I’m a bigger guard in high school, and I just try and use whatever I can to my advantage.”
Last season, as a junior with the Lancers, Seales averaged 13.6 points per game while leading the team in assists.
“I had a pretty big scoring role, but I wasn’t used as much of a leader because we were a senior dominated team. I think I did a good job of getting my teammates involved and making my teammates better,” said Seales.
“Next season I’ll have to be a leader because I’m a senior now.”
Now, with two weekends left of live period action, Seales — whose older brother plays at North Dakota — says the goal is to just keep on keepin on.
“It’s been going really well actually with Quad City Elite, they’ve been allowing me to play my game and it’s been fun,” said Seales.
“I’m just going to play my game and keep doing what I’m doing”
