Cedarville sophomore Colby Cross (2020) has been making a name for himself the last few months. Capping it off with a strong performance at the NOE Showcase, Colby is bound to have a successful year with Cedarville the next several years.
Last season, Colby not only started for Cedarville, but he finished 2nd Team all-OHC. He did this by dominating with his sharp-shooting range as well as overall playing like a true point guard. He sees the floor very well and pushes the ball well in transition. I talked to Colby about where he still wants to improve.
“I still need to improve on encouraging my teammates more”, he said.
The fact that he is only a sophomore and want to improve his leadership shows he will be do great things in the future. Being a football player for Cedarville will help him develop his leadership skills even quicker. Colby feels playing has helped him play with more intensity on the basketball court.
“(Playing football) has helped me be able to drive and finish through traffic”.
At 5’8, Cross is small for a PG. This extra intensity he plays with makes him such a dangerous guard because he score from virtually anywhere. One of his goals moving forward is to help the Indians return to their winning ways after a 5-15 season last year. Not only this, Colby hopes to pick up several D1 offers soon. As of now, he has not expressed much interest except from Cedarville University. With his talent I’m sure he will pick up more offers by the end of his sophomore year.
