Recruiting Report: Carl Bow (2018)
Before his sophomore season, Carl Bow had a D1 offer under his belt from Saint Peter’s. And though that’s still his only offer, there’s a collection of Midwest D1s that might be added to the list soon.
The 6-foot-2 Hazel Park guard recently broke down his recruitment during a recent phone interview with PHMI.
“Recently, I’ve picked up more interest from Cleveland State, IPFW, Northern Illinois, and University of Illinois-Chicago,” said Bow, Michigan’s 22nd-ranked 2018.
“I think Cleveland State and UIC are more warmer and closer to offering. And I think Central Michigan might be close to offering too.”
After growing a couple inches during the past year, and working on his jumper, Bow has seen a gradual improvement in his skill-set and production on the court.
“I’ve been working on my jumper and becoming more of a consistent shooter and being able to shoot with a hand in my face,” said Bow. “And I’ve been working on shooting from mid-range and deep, and also my finishing ability.”
As a junior season at Hazel Park, Bow was selected first-team all state. He was the do-it-all guy for that team.
“I did kind of everything for my team, I played the point, and I also played the two guard. I facilitated, I rebounded, I scored, I had a do-it-all role for my team; I think I averaged about 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists last year,” said Bow.
Now, he’s wrapping up his 17U campaign with Greenwood Elite, and hoping to turn that aforementioned interest into offers.
“I’m looking forward to playing because I’m an ultimate competitor, I love competing at the highest level,” said Bow.
“I’m just going to control what I can control. I can’t control what the colleges want and who they’re going to offer, so I’m going to focus on my play and my goal is to win every tournament I play in.”
Bow added “I’m going to focus hard on playing hard, and doing what I do best.”
