Recruiting Report: Caden Freetly (2018)
Caden Freetly from Farmington is a 6-foot-3 wing who is emerging at the right time. D3 colleges are noticing his skill and potential, and his experience with WOTN so far has been really positive.
“It’s been great, I’ve been with WOTN for two years now,” Freetly said. “I just love the team, everyone gets along very well. The coaches really care about you during the regular season and in your other sports. A lot of people say their teams are like families, but in the offseason our coaches are always around. You can just shoot them a text.”
As he prepares for the next level, Freetly is getting some specific work in certain areas.
“I want to work on getting to the basket more with some new moves from the perimeter. And then just shooting, getting shots up,” he said.
Caden has already gotten to some college campuses and toured, as several local coaching staffs have made contact.
“College is definitely on my mind,” he said. “I’ve talked to mainly MIAC schools like Saint Mary’s, Bethel, Augsburg, Hamline, places like that. I’ve visited Saint Mary’s and UW-River Falls, but I plan on visiting more. They were nice campuses. Saint Mary’s is smaller, and River Falls is a little bit bigger. I’m just taking it all in right now, open to all of my options.”
His Farmington teammate Sam Wilson blew up last year and was a top target for many D3s before committing around March. Freetly is looking at the same kind of timeline.
“I will probably decide sometime during the season. Sam Wilson committed kind of late, so probably sometime around there. I want to get to know my team.”
