Recruiting Report: Bryce Douglas (2019)
Bryce Douglas, a class of 2019 guard at Centreville, proved to be one of the most significant transfers in the DMV last season. A freshman standout on Bishop Ireton’s JV team, Douglas led the Wildcats to the district championship in his first varsity season as a sophomore.
“I would describe myself as an attacking combo guard. I believe I can score from all three levels. I’m an underrated passer, and I think I’m very effective at the lead guard position even though I score very well,” said Douglas, who won conference player of the year, and averaged nearly 16 points per game last season. “I’m a very vocal player with my teammates and coaches and with the other team as well. I talk a lot.”
Centreville won just six games the year before Douglas arrived, but that number grew to 17 in his first year. Douglas was recognized for his achievements, and was named first team all region. He has carried the momentum with him, and has had some big games during the grassroots season with DC Premier.
“I’ve been working on ball handling a lot as well as shooting off the dribble. I’ve been improving in ball screen situations whether that be passing or scoring,” Douglas explained. “Getting a stronger is a factor of my game that I am trying to improve. Stamina, being able to handle the ball efficiently late in the game when I’m tired.”
Douglas says he has a 3.3 cumulative GPA, but says he intend to improve next year. High Point, North Carolina A&T, Mount St. Mary’s, and Hofstra have each expressed interest in Douglas. What can he bring to a college program?
“I believe I could bring my skill set along with my great attitude and character.”
