Recruiting Report: Braeden Johnson (2018)
When considering the best shooters in the state, the list is simply not complete without mention of Braeden Johnson. Now a rising senior at Oakton, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard has worked hard to develop his all around game.
“I think I have truly developed into a guy who can score at all 3 levels, but more specifically a knock down shooter who has bounce,” Johnson explained. “I have a strong feel for the game, and I make the smart play.”

Johnson had a great spring with Team Takeover Grey, and was a standout at the VA Top 80. He is not playing this month due to a minor ankle injury, but should be ready to go by the time his senior season starts up. We admire Johnson’s strong work ethic, attention to detail, and knowledge of the game. He is continuing to work in anticipation of a massive senior season.
“I feel I have become a much better defender, and have really started to get a lot stronger,” Johnson stated. “To play at the next level, I need to improve my ball handling, and continue to get stronger.”
Johnson continues to challenge himself in the classroom, where he has a 4.2 GPA. He has received heavy interest from about 25 D3 schools. Specifically defending champs Babson, Williams, MIT, Johns Hopkins, CNU, Emory, and Grinnell. Johnson has received some interest from Ivy League schools as well. What can he bring to a program at the next level?
“At the next level, I’m a guy that can score the ball and make the right plays needed to win. I’ll give everything I have.”
