Recruiting Report: Anthony Davis (2018)
Hopkins/Powerhouse Minnesota guard Anthony Davis used his athletic ability and work rate to get on the floor at an early age for one of Minnesota’s best high school squads.
Davis has also helped push Powerhouse Minnesota to being a top three team in the state of Minnesota this 17u season.
“I think I’ve been improving a lot with my squad”, Davis said. “We are becoming more of a team then we were in the beginning of the season. We are sharing the ball, being unselfish, working together, and communicating more on the court. We will be heading to Las Vegas this weekend in the Bigfoot tournament.”
Davis has been a key figure in the Powerhouse squad earning themselves a strong 31-10 record heading into the final weekend of play.
“I think what stood out to me most this 17u season is becoming more of a leader and controlling the game, and be more of a point guard than just a slasher,” Anthony said. “I want to be more than just our athletic slasher so now I’m pretty much working on my ball-handling and my shooting and I’ve been really working on my cardio going on a run at 5:00 o’clock in the morning.
“I’m really trying to work really hard on showing other people what I can do and to work for what I want on my own to go division one.
We are still waiting for a program to step forward and offer Davis who is an electric and explosive guard who defends, attacks, and has become a solid shooter.
“Recruiting’s been going good for me, I’m building up more interest in some schools,” Anthony said. “I had a few college programs talked it to me a lot like Minot State, Denver University, South Dakota, North Dakota.
“My coaches, they told our team to write what colleges you would like to go to and my top 5 was University of Minnesota, University of Iowa State, Denver University, University of North Dakota, and University of South Dakota. I really don’t know about visits yet but I’m going to figure that out when I come back home from Vegas.”
As a senior at Hopkins Davis wants to bring home gold for his Royal club.
“Going into my senior year at Hopkins High School I want to get the state title for my last year and then after that just pretty much sit down have a talk with my parents to see what would be the best fit for me for school.”
