Recruiting Report 2018: Savion Gallion
Savion Gallion, 6’4″, WG, 2018, Thurgood Marshall Academy HS Washington, DC.
Grassroots Team: District Basketball Club 16 & U.
This past season Savion was awarded to the 3rd Team All Washington, DC by DMV Elite and he has potential to be a 1st Team member after the 2017/18 season. The All Washington,DC All Star Team is a very prestigious award and last season for Thurgood Marshall HS, Savion averaged 15.5 ppg shooting over 60% from the field which included a season high of 37.
Savion says” I am a team player and I like to get everyone involved. I can play some PG, I like to run the fast break, and I enjoy the half court sets. As a scorer I can make a basket from all 3 levels and my range is past the 3 point line on or off the dribble. I have been working hard on attacking the rim and finishing thru contact.” Savion has been very impressive when we watched him practice several times this summer & he looked very good on the DBC drills to the rim with contact. Savion displayed a very high basketball IQ and an excellent offensive arsenal.
This spring & summer Savion says,” I am very happy with my progress at The District Basketball Club from the Coaches and my teammates. We have a great record and our goal is to win the Powerade Platform Finals which begin on July 12.”
Savion has a very good looking lean basketball build, but adds” This summer I am working on muscular strength, speed and fast muscle twitch. I jump rope, do box jumps and sled pushes. My vertical has increased and I am dunking very easily now. Additionally, I do a lot of stretching and do yoga” When we evaluated Savion we really liked how low he gets, and his lateral movement. He is a fine tuned, a hard working, team player who is very skilled.
Since Savion is very young for the 2018 class he qualifies to play for the DBC 16 & U. . We will be watching Savion play at Thurgood Marshall this season and provide additional reports for him. Additionally, we will have articles on DBC 17 & U and 16 & U after their tournaments which begin July 16.
