Class of 2018 Standouts (listed alphabetically)
Bryce Hamilton (Pasadena/Belmont Shore)
Hamilton, who is ranked No. 13 in the Prephoops Southern California rankings, is best described as a bonafide scorer. The ball sticks too much with him and he likes to pound it, but this gifted lefty can get a bucket at all three levels and he’ll find the open teammate in transition.
Dorian Harris (Cerritos/Gamepoint OC)
Harris was one of the better surprises at the Premier 80. At 6-foot-5 with a solid looking frame and
Cerritos High forward Dorian Harris has seen his stock rise this spring and summer.a nice dose of athleticism, he was active at both ends of the floor. He knocked in shots from deep, grabbed key rebounds in traffic and delivered some timely assists. Division II or Division 1 should be in his future.
Jamal Hartwell (Fairfax/Compton Magic Select)
Hartwell continued his outstanding play this summer as he caught the eye of many coaches in attendance due to his quickness and savvy. He advances the ball well in transition, has a potent pull-up game, and showed a nice burst off the dribble to either drop off the timely assist or utilize the off hand for the finish.
Mehkel Harvey (Ocean View/Branch West Elite)
Look for the 6-foot-9 Harvey to be on many college coaches lists that represent the Big West, WCC, Mountain West, and Big Sky by the end of July. The long and lean 4/5 is an active interior player at both ends in the areas of rim protection, rebounding, and his shot range is evolving.
Demetrius Jackson (El Toro/Cali Rebels)
Jackson excelled a this event due to an outstanding motor. He has a good looking frame with nice length and he’s a quick athlete. He knocked in some 3s. attacked the rim in transition, and showed active hands on the defensive end.
Boe Nguidjol (Central City/Compton Magic Select)
Nguidiol has been one of the “hot” names on the circuit the past couple of months. The 6-foot-8 power forward is a versatile inside-out threat who has strong motor. He attacks from the elbow, converts 3-point shots, and is active on the glass. He forces the issue too much and needs learn pace, but he’s definitely a college prospect on some level.
Toby Okwuokei (Etiwanda/Prodigy Elite)
Okwuokei will be taking his savvy ball skills and savvy to Etiwanda High School next season. At this stage he isn’t a true 1 or 2, he’s just a guard who affects the game in multiple ways. He hit some 3s, got into the lane at will, and snapped passes to open shooters. Looks like a sure-fire DII prospect and possibly D1 with continued improvement.
