Recap: Best of the Best from the FAB48 (Part II)
Francisco’s Finest (Part 2)
Arizona’s Finest
Josh Green (Earl Watson Elite 16U)
Joel’s Take: Green, at 6-foot-5ish, has that prototypical “Big Guard” frame and the athleticism as well. He is exceptional slasher to the cup and a gifted passer. When his jump shot is flowing, he is tough to deal with.
Sleeper on the rise
Julian Rishwain (Earl Watson Elite 16U)
Joel’s Take: One of the fastest risers in So-Cal Class of 2019 has been the wiry scorer Rishwain. The 6-foot-3 two-guard is a slick slasher and he can drain deep 3-pointers. Once his strength kicks his game will go to another level.
Dynamic duo
Ziaire Williams (BTI Select 2019)
Joel’s Take: Williams is stretching out quickly and is getting close to 6-7ish. He settles too much for the 3-pointer, but he has ball skills, length, and innate ability to score.
Drake London (BTI Select 2019)
Joel’s Take: London has a mature game for someone so young. The lefty point forward at 6-foot-5 plays on balance, has a feathery jump shot, and is a gifted passer.
Scratching the surface
Jaylon Gibson (Team Wall 16U)
Joel’s Take: Came across this willowy thoroughbred at the 16s Division. The 6-foot-9 forward shows impeccable timing as a rim protector, runs hard in transition, has a soft touch, and posses developing ball skills. A major diamond in the rough.
Basketball Player
Jalen Graham (Expressions Elite 16u South)
Joel’s Take: Playing against Earl Watson Elite 16U, the 6-foot-3 Graham continued to put his fingerprint on this game with timely scoring, savvy passing, and heady play. A rising junior to watch going forward.
Blue Collar
Orlando Allen (Meanstreets 17u)
Joel’s Take: Bazley gets most of the attention due to his skill, but the 6-foot-7 Allen does all the dirty work. Instinctive rebounder with good hands and he makes excellent passes in the half court.
Stock Riser
Jaden Shackelford (The Truth 16u)
Joel’s Take: Shackelford, at 6-foot-3ish rising junior, is evolving into one of the best guards in Southern California, regardless of class. For a rising junior his offensive game is tight. He can drain deep 3s and gets separation from the defenders with his jab step. Clever playmaker
