Prospect Spotlight: Yousef Saleh (2020)
Beavercreek sophomore Yousef Saleh (2020) has been through so much since he arrived at Beavercreek HS last year. After tearing his meniscus before his freshman year started, Yousef had surgery in November, missing the season as a result. After recently being cleared, he is back in the action trying to prove he can be one of the better players in the GWOC.
Yousef has great offensive skill, especially when it comes to attacking the rim. He is not afraid to attack a post player in the paint, and has the speed to beat almost anyone off the dribble. He recently put this on display at the NOE Showcase in Lima last weekend. This combined with his great on-the-ball defense makes him a good guard. What will make him a great guard is if he improves his shooting which he tells me is where he needs the most work.
One of Yousef’s goals for next season is to be a leader for his Beavercreek team. He will definitely have a chance to be one of the Beavers top guards as they lost several through graduation. He also wants to be one of the top players in the GWOC. Yousef showed that although he may not be as known around Dayton yet, that he’s not afraid to go against guys that are known. At the NOE Showcase, Yousef showed no fear going against Wayne’s guard Darius Quisenberry, who is arguably one of the top point guards in the state. Finally, Yousef would like to help get the Beavers back to their winning ways, as the Beavers have went 19-50 the last 3 seasons combined.
Due to the timing of his injury, many scouts did not get the opportunity to watch Saleh play last year, but this season he hopes to change that. He’s hoping this upcoming year will see him receive his first letter of interest. With his talent level and potential, I predict Yousef to be a dominate player for the years to come.
