Prospect Spotlight: Tre Coleman (2020)
In the class of 2020, you aren’t going to expect a ton of players to have offers. As it stands, three players have offers from Indiana in 2020, Mabor Majak, Michael Saunders Jr., and now Tre Coleman. The Jeffersonville (IN) standout has shown what he has to offer and he picked up his first DI offer this month.
The first school to offer was New Orleans. They are coming off an outstanding run late in the season and one of the darlings of the NCAA tournament. A good chunk of their coaching staff is from the state of Indiana so they tend to recruit the state like their backyard.
As for Tre, he’s really been playing well since we got a chance to see him this past winter in Jeffersonville (IN). He’s a 6’5 wing who has improved his handles and skill level even since then. He’s got a big frame, lots of toughness, and the ball handling has allowed his game to expand quickly. He has a jumper that he can use but he’s best when driving to the rim and finishing through contact.
Coleman has plenty of upside and is really, likely, just a shadow of the player he will be down the line. He’s risen and is among the best players in the state for a class that doesn’t have much size in the class of 2020. The next step for him is a little more of a balanced game. Definitely leans more towards the driving and drawing fouls than his shooting. If he can prove he’s a knock down shooter, he should really take off because his body, frame, and toughness are all already outstanding.
