Prospect Spotlight: Tanner Arey (2018)

Peebles High School lost one of their top inside scorers last year, but return one of their best backcourt players in Tanner Arey (2018). Although he does not play AAU, Tanner has still been working on his game during the summer.
“I’m in the gym nearly every day working on aspects I’m both good and not as good at”.
The Indians top player has high expectations going into November for both Peebles and himself.
Tanner is definitely one of the better shooters in the SHAC. His midrange and 3PT shot is lethal and makes him by far one of the most dangerous players offensively. He has room to improve and tells me he still has areas where he wants to improve.
“Reading defenses and also becoming stronger is where I want to improve”.
Tanner has potential to play college basketball after high school, especially at the NAIA or D3 level. He will need to play his best for Peebles to be competitive in the SHAC especially with Lynchburg-Clay being the main team to battle with this year. Tanner believes it will be a tough matchup, but Peebles can still be competitive in their conference.
“I think there will be some good competition…I believe we’ll finish at the top of our league as we have the past few years”.
After high school, Tanner wants to play college ball at any level. However, he shows great maturity by telling me his goals right now are solely focused on his team.
“I’d like to help take Peebles farther than the boys program has ever been”.
With Arey returning, Peebles has a real shot of making a deeper run. By making a run, Tanner may attract his first college offer. At this point, he owns none, but with his attitude and skillset, I have no doubt he can receive one by November.
