Prospect Spotlight: Sean Larimore (2018)
Just when you think you have Southern California covered there comes an event which opens your eyes to a number of under-the-radar prospects. The Fullcourt Press All-West Camp, under the direction of Dinos Trigonis, was that particular event that unveiled 6-foot-7 Sean Larimore (Lancaster/Paraclete).
Larimore is stretch 5-man who has a burly frame with decent length, but it’s his skill set and feel for the game that catches your attention. “I feel very comfortable stepping out beyond the 3-point line and showing off my shooting touch” explains, Larimore. “In addition, I have the frame to bang inside and the vision to find open teammates out on the perimeter.”
There were numerous times throughout the camp that Larimore would take his defender outside and if his opponent didn’t crowd him he showed of his feathery shooting touch. In the paint area Larimore needs to work on his lift and foot speed. At times he struggled scoring over length and on the other end of the floor his lack of ideal lateral quickness—for example—hedging out on screens or shooters, was evident.
Larimore’s shooting touch should attract college attention.“Since the end of the regular season, this spring I have been working on improving my foot speed and defending on the block as well as on the perimeter.” “Colleges will be looking how I defend this summer to see if I would be able to defend at the next level on a consistent basis.
Overall though, his offensive skills set have attracted a number of colleges. “UNC Wilmington, Cal Lutheran, Emerson College, University of Mount Olive, and Oberlin College have shown interest early on in July.”
In this day and age where shooting has taken precedence over any other skill it seems, at his size, Larimore should be a priority for the Division II, Division III, or NAIA level.
