Prospect Spotlight: Sam Clareman (2019)
If you’re looking for one of the finer shooters in So-Cal, regardless of class, look no further than Sam Clareman.
Clareman is a 6-foot-2 junior who is equally effective pulling up for a 3-point shot in transition as he is coming off a pin-down screen. The wiry built combo-guard needs to continue to get stronger, but his motor, IQ, and overall savvy for the game is quite good.
When asked about his shooting prowess, mentioned a name that is well known in Wisconsin, but has built quite the reputation out west. ” Through a family connection, I’ve been tutored by Matt Ryan who provides coaching/skill clinics in LA.” The last name should be familiar if you’re a college basketball junkie as Matt is the son of former Wisconsin Head Coach Bo Ryan.
Arguably one of the top 5 shooters in So-Cal in 2019Although Clareman has received no school interest as of yet, that should change after July, especially if he hones the areas of his game that need improvement. ” I’ve been focusing on rebounding, mid-range finishing skills, and breaking down defenders off the dribble.” “When those areas of the game improve, I’ll be more of a complete player.”
Clareman will be running with the Cali Stars 16U this summer, so if you’re looking for a shooter with moxie, look no further than Sam Clareman.
