Prospect Spotlight: Josh Scott (2019)
Josh Scott may be viewed as a football player first, but he’s really good at basketball.
The 2019 Blanche Ely forward averaged 8.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game as the Tigers went 25-7 and appeared in the Class 9A region semifinals.
Scott called his sophomore season a learning experience.
“The season showed all my weaknesses and strengths,” Scott told Prep Hoops Florida. “The part of my game that grew the most was my defense and shooting ability. My role for next year at Blanche Ely is to be the best team player I can be and to make everyone on my team better.”
The 6’5″, 200-pounder has no offers for basketball, but one for his play as a defensive end for football from FAU.
Scott started playing basketball at age 12. He says football helps him on the court because it makes him more aggressive and play through contact.
He plays both forward positions and has run with Team Knight for the last five years. This summer, he’s focused on improving every aspect of his game and mainly his defense and ball handling.
Scott called his mid-range jumper and defensive ability his biggest strengths.
Again, Scott is a football player first, but he takes his basketball progression seriously. He will have ample opportunities to play an even bigger role for a very successful Blanche Ely program this season.
