Prospect Spotlight: Jeremy Szilagyi (2018)
Jeremy Szilagyi – 6’4” | SG | Fishers High School | IE Trojans 2018
High Academic – Floor Spacer
Jeremy Szilagyi is a long, deceptive, floor spacing guard who has a knack for finding open space on the offensive end of the floor. Jeremy plays his high school ball at Fishers High School. He runs during the summer with Indiana Elite Trojans 2018. At 6’4” he can get his shot off under duress and over many two guards in the area.
Jeremy also attended the Prep Hoops Indiana Senior Showcase at Fishers earlier this month. He impressed not only with his ability to consistently knock down the deep ball, but the other ways that he impacted the game.
He got into passing lanes on defense and showed that he can guard positions one through four. Jeremy communicated well when in help side on defense. Positioning on and off ball on defense was also of note. High energy player who brings an edge to a team.
Szilagyi is a high IQ player who also performs in the classroom posting a 4.5 GPA. One of the highest academic players that Indiana has had in the recent past. He understands the game of basketball beyond putting the ball in the basket.
One of the purest shooters in the Class of 2018 who is finding other ways to impact games. He rebounds well from his position with his size and length. He can push the ball in transition and runs the floor well in the open court.
Szilagyi has shown improvement in his ball handling ability and looks more comfortable attacking the basket off the bounce in the half court. Still a player who excels as a catch and shoot guard but is working on expanding his offensive game. As he continues to add strength to his frame, he will have more success attacking the basket and finishing through contact.
Jeremy will be a good fit in a program that takes pride in the defensive end, needs some length on the perimeter, and is looking for a floor spacer on offense. A player to keep on the radar as he will be a crucial offensive piece for both his AAU and high school teams.
