Prospect Spotlight: Jaquan Lowman (2021)
Apopka High School is going to know about rising freshman Jaquan Lowman pretty quickly.
The level of hustle, the determination to get to the rack, it’s all something that the Blue Darters could use, regardless of position on the floor. For this guard, it comes naturally.
Lowman has a silky handle that can cause defenders to freeze. He’s really solid when using his arsenal of hesitation moves. When it comes to absorbing contact on the way to the bucket, Lowman is as aggressive as they come. As far as rebounding goes, I saw him leaping over defenders at the Raptors Elite ID4 Invitational.
It’s all about visualizing crashing the glass, according to Quan.
“I just picture everyone smaller than me,” Lowman said.
He works on his game often, preferably at his local community center. This is where he learned a sense of toughness. He rebounds on both ends and pushes the fast break in a controlled fashion. When it’s his time to shoot, he actually FOLLOWS his shot.
Lowman aims to be an immediate asset for the Apopka squad who, per his words, needs a bit of assistance on the scoring end. Although, he’s already set to put in the time and energy to get them right.
“We need more help on offense, so I know I have to work on the shot more,” Lowman said.
Excited to see what the future holds for Lowman. His game can take him far. But his personality and work-ethic shines in a way that could take him further.
