Prospect Spotlight: Jamir Price (2019)
Class of 2019 combo guard Jamir Price is a rangy defender from Rock Island that made his biggest impact on that end of the floor when we saw him in the spring with Quad City Elite 16U on the grassroots circuit. Flashes his transition scoring ability using his speed to get a layups in the open floor. One to continue to track. A lot of potential here, but needs to play with a higher motor.
He spoke with PHI about his sophomore campaign at Rock Island.
“I think we started off pretty well and then we lost a key player with Lacey Watson and then it kind of went down after that. I started the year off with an injury and came back kind of slow. Toward the end of the season I picked it up and started playing good.”
Where did he see the biggest strides made in his development?
“I feel like I improved my ball handling. I am still working on my shot which is improving.”
He knows what he is best at on the floor.
“My strengths are attacking the basket and playing defense.”
For his Quad City Elite 16U squad he knows what his role is.
“My role is playing defense, scoring the ball, and being aggressive at both ends.”
Nothing going on with recruiting at this stage for the Rock Island guard.
