Prospect Spotlight: Elijah Pepper (2019)
The Class of 2019 6’1 guard Elijah Pepper has been turning heads this summer especially at the West Coast Elite top 100 camp.
Elijah Pepper has had his fair share of accolades when it comes to the game of basketball. Currently attending Selah High School. Elijah has the size, speed and athleticism to compete at the D1 level. Winning Athlete of the year for the 201+-2017 for Selah High School he states is one of his most greatest accomplishments. A humbled, hardworking, smart and respectable young man will also remember where he comes from and will pay homage to their stomping grounds. I would argue that some of his greatest accomplishments are yet to come.
Standing 6’1 Elijah is a shifty guard who can handle it with both hands and can see the floor better than most guards in his class. He is a nose to the floor defender and can guard multiple positions because of his build and strength. In the West Coast Elite camp this year. Coaches have made comparisons to younger version of Rex Chapman. He has the ability to shoot of both legs and from pretty much anywhere on the court. He has an assortment of ways to get his shot off and create space. If defenders close out to hard he can also blow by you with his quick first step.
In a recent report Elijah described his basketball experience, deep rooted background to the game and how his family plays a huge part in his success.
“Basketball runs through my veins. My dad and uncle both had an opportunity to play professional basketball in Australia for 7 years after graduating from college. This is my dream and having professional players in my family has helped me gain a different perspective on basketball and learn the intricacies and often overlooked aspects of the game. I play with passion, tenacity and am hungry for success. My goal is to get a college degree of my choice and achieve my goal of playing basketball along the way, just like my dad and uncle. I strive to be a great team player, leader and role model and give nothing less than 100% in everything I do. I want to be the best that I can be and know that I have a lot to learn, but also have a lot to offer as a team mate and player. I always give my all to be the best that I can be on and off the court. I truly believe that I have what it takes to become an asset to a college basketball team and school as an athlete and student.”
Currently Elijah Pepper holds offers from The University of Montana, University of Hawaii and has seen some interest rise from Boise State, Cal Poly and San Francisco. Coming from huge legacy hoops where is father Ryan Pepper who played at CWU back in the mid 90’s, Elijah will look to follow in his father’s footsteps.
