Prospect Spotlight: Billy Lord (2018)

Shawnee HS senior Billy Lord (2018) spent his summer playing with Dayton Metro and used this time to improve parts of his game. He attended several camps and tournaments with Metro throughout the summer. Billy will be looked upon to lead a Braves team where he led in scoring, rebounding, and shot blocking last year.
Billy has a high basketball IQ and has great court awareness which is rare for a forward. A dominant low post scorer, he scored 12 points per game last season and picked up most of his points in the paint. Billy also grabbed 5 rebounds per game to accompany his scoring talent. His talent makes him one of the better players in the CBC especially when it comes to post players. The area he would like to improve is his ball handling and shooting off the dribble. With his 6’3” stature, Lord is actually one of the taller players in the conference. With a nice midrange jumper, he would be a smaller defenders worst nightmare.
The Braves have been known for having strong guards in the past, but Lord hopes to break that streak and has some big goals for next season. Billy wants to see Shawnee playing in the district finals for the first time since 2015 when they lost to Luke Kennard and Franklin. Not only this, but Billy wants to bump his season averages to 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. This is definitely do-able and I expect Billy can reach this goal. If he can make those averages work, Shawnee will have a much easier time reaching the district championship next year.
Although not receiving interest at this time, Billy would like to play basketball at the next level. He wants to play at a D2 school or small D1 program specifically. With his talent level, this is definitely a real possibility. Billy has potential to finish 1st Team all CBC next year.
