Powerade Finale Top Big Men
Detroit Spartans 2018 F Mark Mettie: Hands down he was one of the best big man prospects at the event, he’s a player that brings a lot of different attributes to his team. He can shoot the deep ball, can play with his back to the basket and makes plays above the rim through traffic. D1 programs should be tracking and offering this young man, at 6’9 with this much skill he’s a no brainer.
Illinois All-Stars 2018 C Paul O’Leary: Reminds me a lot of Former South View HS & current VMI Center Tyler Creammer. He’s more of a back to the basket type big but can face up as well, he blocks shots, rebounds, and most of all he brings energy. Even when he’s sitting on the bench he is actively engaged and one of the loudest people in the gym, constantly cheering on his teammates.
Wisconsin United 2018 PF Brunard Williams: With so many scorers on the team, you need a player that finds other ways to impact the game and that is what this young man brought. He plays very hard, and does a good job of boxing out when the shot goes up, he also can stretch the floor and make plays from the high post.
Detroit Spartans 2017 F/C Alex Ismail: At 6’10, he automatically is going to stand out to you. He’s very raw at this point, but if you’re a college program looking for a project type of player, then he could be the guy you may want to add this late in the summer. He showed flashes of how good he can be throughout and will only get better if he continues to be coached and in the right program.
Illinois All- Stars 2018 PF Michael Wright: He rebounded the ball and blocked shots well, does a good job of defending inside the post and making things difficult for opposing bigs. Would fall into the category of what we would call a junkyard dog, he doesn’t care mind doing the dirty work at all.
