Louisiana Class of 2018 Rankings: New Faces pt. 1
Christavious Thomas 6’5 F North Caddo
New Ranking: 16
Thomas is a long, rangy, athletic forward that has had a big impact for North Caddo going back to his sophomore season playing with Robert Williams. He has all of the tools imaginable, and can be a huge difference maker on either end. His skill set is continuing to catch up with his athletic gifts, and if he can become a knock down shooter from outside, the sky’s the limit.
Terrence Smith 6’2 G Crescent City
New Ranking: 18
Smith was one of the main contributors for a team that won the state title last year, and there is a good chance that Crescent City is going to be a top 5 team in the state, regardless of class next year. He is an athletic guard with a lot of skill. He is in my opinion the best mid range shooter in Louisiana, and has range that extends beyond the 3 point line. He is capable of getting you a bucket anytime he needs, and is still flying under the radar.
Marc Bowie 6’2 G Karr
New Ranking: 21
Bowie is a very athletic guard, that had a very good summer playing with NOLA23. His game looks the best in transition, allowing him to show off his tremendous leaping ability on both sides of the ball. In the half-court, he has shown the ability to shoot both from deep and midrange. If he is able to put on 15 pounds, and play stronger when getting to the goal, a D1 offer will be coming his way.
Jamiree Williams 6’3 G Central Lafourche
New Ranking: 23
Williams is another guard that had a good summer with NOLA23, earning himself a scholarship offer to Nicholls St. He is a prototypical size for a 2 at the next level, and can score on all three levels. When he is locked in on defense, he can be a real problem, and I look forward to a more consistent effort from him on that end next season.
Seneca Knight 6’6 G/F Northside
New Ranking:30
Knight is one of the most accurate long range shooters in the state, and at his size it is very tough to contest his shots. If the defender does contest long, he has no problem putting the ball on the deck and shooting from either midrange or getting to the rim in 1-2 dribbles. On the other end, his length leads to lots of steals, especially in Northside’s pressure defense. If he can tighten up his handles, and make the transition to a full time 2 instead of a 2/3 tweener, D1s are going to come calling.
Kevin Charles 6’8 F Crescent City
New Ranking: 35
Charles is another member of Crescent City’s team, and he has gotten a lot better over the course of the past year. He is a capable scorer down on the block, and is big enough to defend the rim and rebound on the other end. He has a role, and he is able to fill in well, without playing outside of his skill level.
