GWOC American Early Top 5
After spending the last few days previewing Dayton Divisions as a whole, now I will shift my focus to early conference previews. The goal here is to show you right now who the Top 5 teams are in the conference and the Top 5 players. First I will start with the GWOC American.
- Trotwood-Madison– The defending Region 8 champions, the Rams brought back some major pieces from last year and look to be just as talented. This team is definitely one of the top teams in the State of Ohio.
- Sidney– The only Ohio team last year besides St. Vincent-St. Mary to beat Trotwood, the Yellow Jackets are back and likely the only team in the American division able to compete with the Rams. All 5 starters are back plus one of their top players off the bench.
- Xenia– Arguably the top player in this division plays for the Buccs. They are coming off a 17-8 season and return 2 starters. Xenia definitely has the height to be a dominate team but 2 of their guards from last year left due to graduation.
- Stebbins– 3 of 5 starters return from last year as the Indians have adjusted well to GWOC play. They are ready to take the next step towards GWOC supremacy by battling with Xenia and Sidney for a top 3 spot.
- Butler– After a bad start last season, the Aviators regrouped and finished 13-11 and knocked off some tough teams including #2 Sidney. They lost their top scorer however the 2 starters they return are big time players with great potential.
Top 5 players
Amari Davis (Trotwood-Madison)- Great athlete with great length and great skill.
Myles Belyeu (Trotwood-Madison)- Big time offensive player that can score inside and out.
Andre Gordon (Sidney)- Ultra talented guard who distributes the ball but also can score a lot.
Ratez Roberts (Sidney)- Strong defensive player who excels on-the-ball defense and rebounds.
Samari Curtis (Xenia)- Offensive weapon with scoring range all over the floor.
