Early Top 5 MAC
After spending the last few days previewing Dayton Divisions as a whole, now I will shift my focus to early conference previews. The goal here is to show you right now who the Top 3 teams are in the conference and the Top 5 players. Let’s look at the Midwest Athletic Conference.
- Versailles– It will be hard to pick against the Tigers this year with the players they have returning. Justin Ahrens leads a Versailles team capable of making a run come March.
- Marion Local– Any other year this Flyers team would have been my pick to win the MAC. This year, with several big post players returning, Marion Local will be a competitive team that is definitely capable of making a run to Columbus come March.
- St. Henry– The Redskins look to improve off of a 13-9 season a year ago. The biggest issue they face is defensively how they will defend the athleticism Versailles has and the post presence Marion Local possesses.
Top 5 Players
Justin Ahrens (Versailles)- Offensive juggernaut capable of scoring anywhere on the floor.
Nathan Bruns (Marion Local)- Physical post player who makes plays on both ends of the floor.
Tyler Mescher (Marion Local)- Dynamic big with great rebounding skill and a scorer’s mentality.
Marcus Bruns (Coldwater)- High scoring physical guard with a nice shooting touch.
Keaton McEldowney (Versailles)- Aggressive guard who rebounds well for his position.
