Dayton’s Top 5 Scorers
It’s the one stat everyone talks about, but it is definitely important. For a team to have success, they have to have a guy that can score. Here are the top 5 scorers in Dayton.
Justin Ahrens (2018)- Able to score from almost anywhere, Ahrens seems to have no weaknesses offensively. If you give him space, he knocks down the 3PT shot. If you take away the 3PT shot, he burns you off the dribble for a dunk. Justin is able to finish with both hands and excels especially in fast break situations for Versailles.
Myles Belyeu (2018)- Averaging 18 points per game last year, Myles is a true inside-out forward for Trotwood. He has enough range to pull up if a defender gives him space, but also is strong on the inside and finishes well in the paint. He had a season high 30 points against Dunbar late last season.
Samari Curtis (2019)- One of the best scorers in the Class of 2019, Xenia’s Samari Curtis is similar to Ahrens because he can shoot from almost anywhere. Averaging 24 points per game, Curtis is athletic enough to finish in traffic and around defenders while also disciplined enough to know when he’s hot to shoot from the 3PT range. He scored a season high 39 points against West Carrollton last year.
Andre Gordon (2019)- Andre takes a lot of shots for Sidney and makes a lot of shots. Nearly shooting 400 shots last season, he averaged 20 points per game. Most of his points came in the paint when he would attack the rim and beat his man off the dribble. His season high was 40 points against Greenville, but Gordon also scored 30+ in 4 other games last year.
Caleb McConnell (2018)- Another great inside-out player, Caleb has the most range of all 5 players listed. Knocking down shots from near NBA range, Dunbar’s senior star is lengthy enough to finish in traffic and does it with ease. McConnell possesses great speed and generally creates mismatches with his height which allows him to score near 20 points per game for the Wolverines.
