Dayton’s Top 5 Rebounders
Nothing is more exciting than watching two post players jockey for position and battle it out in the paint for a rebound. These guys not only grab bounds, but they dominate the paint because of this, thus making them the top 5 rebounders in Dayton.
Matt Goddard (2018)- Averaging 7 rebounds per game and grabbing a season high 13 twice, Matt makes his mark in games on the glass. I have a lot of respect for a post player that averages more rebounds than points per game and that’s what Matt does. Graham is lucky to have him back next year to help dominate the paints once again in the CBC.
Duncan Hall (2019)- There’s not much one can do when trying to battle it out with Hall. He led the GWOC in rebounds last year and for good reason. Duncan grabbed double digit boards for most of the season, but went off for a season high 18 during a double-double performance against Carroll. He grabs most of his rebounds on the offensive end which makes him dangerous in the paint.
Jonathan Mpanzu (2018)- One of my favorite rebounders to watch last year, Stebbins is lucky to have Mpanzu on their team. Averaging 9 boards per game, Mpanzu uses his length and athleticism to dominate his opponents. In a game against Beavercreek last year, I watched him grab 9 rebounds, 5 of them on the offensive end because the defense could not find a way to box him out of the paint.
C.J. Napier (2019)- One of the GCL’s best rebounders a year ago, C.J. is another long and lengthy forward that is difficult to defend on the glass due to his great athleticism. Another high scorer, Napier creates mismatches and takes full advantage of them whenever he is in the paint.
Leonard Taylor (2018)- A football star as well as a top notch post player, Leonard is a big reason why Springfield HS has had success over the last few years. Averaging 9 rebounds per game, Taylor used his 6’6, 240 lb. frame to absolutely dominate the paint and with his incredible athleticism as well, is almost impossible to keep off the glass.
