Best of the Midwest: 2019 Stock Risers
Saturday, July 22nd | Grand Rapids, MI
Hayden Smithey – 6’5” | W/G | Indy Heat 16U EYBL | Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger
Hayden played at an elite level on Saturday in Grand Rapids. He got anything and everything he wanted on the offensive end of the floor. Attacked the basket in transition with some stellar finishes with both hands. Jumper was going down at a good clip and he put up points in a hurry. Smithey is an intriguing prospect with his size, ball handling ability, and knack for reading the floor well. He is an underrated passer from the wing position. Good weekend for the Bishop Dwenger prospect.

Harold Bennett – 5’10” | PG | Indy Heat 16U EYBL | Southport High School
Harold Bennett was a complete floor general for Indy Heat. Bennett rebounds at an incredible rate for an under-sized guard and is great at getting down the floor with his head up. He advanced the ball with the pass and racked up the assists possession after possession. There was a run where Bennett grabbed four straight rebounds that lead to four straight assists and ten quick points. Harold has shown that he can impact the game on the defensive end too. Smart guard with poise and composure at the position.
Jalen Windham – 6’5” | W/F | Team Teague 2019 | Ben Davis High School
Windham looked great from deep on Saturday. The Ben Davis prospect is known for his ability to stretch the floor and he did just that. He knocked down threes under duress, showed off his pull-up jumper, and was a menace on the offensive glass. He was an opportunistic player that took advantage of his time with the ball in his hand. He kept Team Teague in a close battle with C2K Elite with the long ball and easy put back baskets on the offensive glass.

Deandrea Carter – 5’10” | PG | Grand Rapids Storm | Muskegon High School (MI)
Deandrea Carter was one of the fastest players at the Best of the Midwest with the ball in his hands. He got down the floor a couple of times before the defense had gotten back to defend the basket. Carter has next level athleticism at the position which helps him score the ball at the rim around bigger bodies. He is explosive and extremely quick with his first step. His jump shot is showing improvement as he continues to expand his offensive game. Scoring point guard by nature but working on his decision making skills.

Ryan Wade – 6’0” | G | UAA 1Nation | Ann Arbor Skyline (MI)
Ryan Wade was playing up in the 17U division this weekend and helped 1Nation pull off a major win over Indy Heat in the Platinum Championship. The backcourt of the Wade brothers was potent all-day Saturday. Ryan stretched the floor with the long ball and created space off the bounce to get his jumper off. He rebounded the ball well in traffic and pushed it up with his court vision. High IQ player that understands when to take advantage of mismatches. Developing passer but overall a great performance.
