Prospect spotlight: Marcus Davis (2018)
Olathe North point guard Marcus Davis is taking his game to new heights this summer while playing for KC Premiere 17U.
A 5’11 floor general, Davis handle the ball well and gets to the rim. He has good shooting range and can play either guard spot.
“My game is very enjoyable,” he said. “I always pass it up the floor when somebody is in front of me. Also I make plays for my teammates.”
Olathe North is coming off a 2016-17 season in which they went 7-14, but Davis says the Eagles are entering the upcoming school year with a positive outlook.
“Our past season we was basically a all guard team,” he said. “We had two bigs that’s it for our school team. This year coming up we should really good. We have overcome from last year.”
Davis says he is looking forward to playing Olathe East and Olathe South this upcoming season.
“Those are our biggest rivals near us,” Davis said. “So many people come out to watch us during these games.”
Davis says he has learned a lot this offseason playing for KC Premiere and has improved his shooting, ball handling and defense.
“When I play AAU I want to see who I’m going against in college,” he said. “Through AAU I want to keep improving on my game.”
Davis says his uncle has been the biggest influence on his basketball basketball career.
“He had a chance to make it to the ‘league’ but he had a child,” Davis said. “He started teaching me playing basketball at the age of 4 years old. After that I look up to him.”
Although he doesn’t have a favorite team or player to watch per say, Davis says enjoys watching basketball in general.
“I love watching basketball,” he said. “If you really pay attention to the game you can get something out of it. I’ve have put a lot new moves into my game.”
