2020 Rankings Breakdown: Most Versatile
A basketball player who earns the tag of a versatile player is one who has spent a lot of time in the gym working on every aspect of the game and it’s even more impressive when the younger, up-and-coming prospects have the ability to adapt to different positions and situations.
The following five players are the best of the best when it comes to being “jacks of all trades” in the 2020 class.
5. Isaiah Johnson (Crean Lutheran)
Johnson is could be the least known name on this list, but that won’t last for long. The 6-foot-5 forward plays for a small high school in Orange County, Crean Lutheran, and also runs with the Saints on the club scene. Johnson is a fluid athlete with good length and passing ability as a trail four-man on the break. He can finish around the basket with either hand and step out with touch to 3-point range. Johnson’s shot blocking ability may be his most impressive attribute.
4. Jadon Jones (Cantwell-Sacred Heart/Earl Watson Elite)
Jones has an all-around game, complete with mid-range jumpers, strong finishes and playmaking ability with the ball in his hands. The 6-foot-4 lefty has his biggest impact on the defensive end with his ability to defend four positions on the court with ease.
3. Andre Henry (St. Francis)
Henry is another name that will be new to many Southern California high school basketball followers because he doesn’t play for a big name club program. Henry, a 6-2 combo guard, stuffed the stat sheet as a freshman, recording averages of 9.8 points, six rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Henry gets where he pleases on the floor and is a strong finisher around the basket.
2. Ziaire Williams (Sherman Oaks Notre Dame/BTI Select)
The rangy 6-foot-5 Williams has the makings of a prototypical Division I wing player. He can score from all three levels, shooting better than 35 percent from 3-point range as a freshman, can create for others off the bounce and can initiate offense as point-forward. Williams already holds a few Division I scholarship offers and a ton more interest.
1. Chibuzo Agbo (St. Augustine/College Bound)
Agbo is an absolute man-child at 6-feet-6 and a chiseled 200 pounds. The best part about Agbo’s frame is the fact that he knows how to use it to his advantage. The sophomore-to-be is a beast on the boards, both offensive and defensive, can lead the break in transition with solid ball skills and can score in a variety of ways.
