2019 Rankings: Top Small Forwards
With our release of the latest version of the 2018 Prospect Rankings, we look to break down each position. Prep Hoops Kentucky breaks down the top small forwards here:
Michael Moreno, Scott County High School (6’6, SF)
Moreno continues to be a force at the forward position. What remains to be seen is how well his abilities at that position at the high school level translates at the D1 level. If Moreno can improve on three things – ball handling, shooting with range, and defending, watch out high majors. He currently holds offers from Iowa, Bradley, and IUPUI. As a sophomore, Moreno averaged 21.8 points and 10 rebounds per game. He shot almost 60% from the field.
Kyle Rode, Lexington Christian Academy (6’6, SF)
It’s been a great last 24 hours (7/12/2017) for Rode. Previously holding one offer from New Orleans, Kyle has just been offered by Southeast Missouri State and Samford. Rode’s ability to score from all over has caught the eye of many. As the live period approaches, he looks to garner more interest while playing with Indiana Elite. As a sophomore, Rode averaged 14.5 points and 6 rebounds while helping lead Lexington Christian to it’s first ever 11th region tournament appearance.
Denys Bachurin, Bella Vista College Prep (AZ) (6’7, F)
Bachurin is being featured here, as he just transferred from Wesley Christian here in Kentucky. He has also been playing with the Louisville Magic this summer. Also a member of the Ukrainian National Team (16U), Denys is receiving interest from Marshall, Drexel, and Morehead State.
Jack Davin, Covington Catholic (6’5, F)
Davin plays with Covington Catholic, a team that won 29 games last season and is consistently one of the state top programs. He was injured last season and looks to be a valuable addition to the roster next year.
Nick Thelan, Covington Catholic (6’5, F)
Add Nick Thelan to the list of 2019’s that could see his role significantly improve thanks to player graduation. Thelan could fill a role lost with the graduation of all-state player Cole VonHandorf.
