South Carolina State Team Camp Notes
Prep Hoops took in the action from on the campus of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg back on Monday. Here are some notes we walked away with today.
Dontrell Shuler (2018) Legacy Charter has been offered by South Carolina State according to Lions Head Coach BJ Jackson. Shuler originally from Irmo is in his second season with the Lions this year. Shuler plays with endless energy is constantly on the move. Shuler plays AAU with the Karolina Khaos on the Adidas Gauntlet Circuit.
Raymond Williams (2018) saw his first action today since transferring from Berea HS to Legacy Charter. Williams a combo guard was a good spark off the bench for the Lions today forcing several turnovers on the defensive end. Williams plays AAU with Team South Carolina. Williams didn’t play on Saturday at the South Carolina Team Camp.
Calvin Mathis (2018) and Maison Hall (2019) both played well here from Aiken HS. Mathis 6’4 wing/point guard has good size for a point guard. Mathis has a very mature frame and look to him. Hall a cornerback on the football team really looks to attack the basket and stalks the baseline. Hall likes to play up-tempo and has a great nose for the ball.
The Hornets will have a deep team this season with plenty of talent to make a run to the State Tourney in March. The Hornets didn’t play with Nazae Baltimore as he was on vacation in Florida.
Robert Braswell (2018) is back for his senior season. Swanny’s Roundball Review first saw Braswell 2 weeks after he arrived in the USA from Germany in North Augusta, GA. Braswell was playing with the G.W.P. Sixers and Head Coach Marvin Chatman. Braswell helped the Blythewood HS Bengals to the Class 5A State Championship Game last season.
Braswell 6’9 plays AAU with Team United EYBL. Braswell has received interest from Old Dominion University, James Madison University, Stetson, South Carolina State, College of Charleston and Charlotte this spring.
Kyron Gray (2018) can really get up and down the floor for a post player. Gray 6’8 plays at Hartsville HS . Gray averaged just a tad under a double-double last season in points and rebounds for the Red Foxes. Gray plays AAU with Team South Carolina.
Isaiah Archie (2019) will look to lead the Oceanside Collegiate Academy Land sharks this season with the departure of his brother Greg. Archie is crafty with the ball and can really penetrate-kick into the lane. Archie averaged 10.2 ppg last season for Head Coach Jermel President. Archie plays AAU with Team United South Carolina 16U.
Zach Johnson (2018) is very quick off the floor and really defends in the post. Johnson 6’4 is extremely athletic and averaged 13.2 ppg and 9 rebounds last season. Johnson is not playing AAU this summer he told Prep Hoops.
Dallan Wright (2020) is coming off a freshman season for the Tigers where he averaged 11.2 ppg and 4.5 rebounds. The Tigers finished the season at 16-12. Wright 6’0 plays AAU with the Karolina Khaos Gold 15U.
