Recruiting Report: Quentin Millora-Brown (2018)
Over the last twelve months, Bishop O’Connell big man Quentin Millora-Brown has been among the most improved players we’ve seen. The 6’9 rising senior has been dominant so far for the Knights at BSN Summer League, and we expect him to continue his rapid rate of progression through the upcoming July live period.
“My game starts with defense, but that’s not all I do. I am a great *facilitator* on offense, and I score when I need to,” said Millora-Brown, who is still just 16 years old. “I do my best to make our offense more efficient. I set good screens and create effective spacing on the floor.”
Millora-Brown clearly understands his role on this team, and has fit in nicely there. Millora-Brown has not stopped improving, and is polishing various aspects of his game as he continues to grow into his body.
“I have to say shooting. I’ve been working on shooting from inside the paint, mid-range shots, and at the three point line to be a more versatile scorer,” he stated. “I’ve taken a lot of shots, and I’m starting to incorporate that into my game more and more.”
Millora-Brown is regarded as one of the best shot blockers in the WCAC. With the departure of Providence commit Nate Watson, he understands that he will need to control the paint.
“Two things: Ball-handling and interior passing. I can take the ball up court, which is not expected of bigs, to increase the speed of our fast break,” Said Millora-Brown about some things he does on the court that often go unnoticed. “I see the court well, which makes for great outlet passes and passes to teammates who cut well.”
Millora-Brown is working hard on his shooting range. He’d like to be able to shoot consistently from the three by the end of the summer, and his coaches are pushing me to start shooting from the college three. He is also working on being more explosive.
“I’m doing well in school and can relax a little now that AP’s are over. This year, I was inducted into the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa (Social Studies) Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta (Math) Honor Society, Tri –M (Music) Honor Society,” Millora-Brown said. “My GPA is around 4.3.”
Boston University, Bucknell, Columbia, JMU, Mount St. Mary’s, Lafayette, Lehigh, Princeton, Rice University, Loyola, and Towson have all offered Millora-Brown.
“I’m fortunate that I’m being recruited by several other schools, and I have interest from high majors in the Big 10.”
What can Millora-Brown bring to a college program?
“I have a tenacious work ethic, I bring high basketball IQ, my “team first” attitude, and my ability to play on both sides of the court, with a priority on defense. I pride myself on running the court all game long with zero plays off.”
