Recruiting Report: Quentin Hardrict (2018)
Quentin Hardrict plays on a lot of winning teams. It’s no coincidence because he makes a lot of winning plays.
The Columbia Heights and 43 Hoops guard is the epitome of a ‘water bug point guard’ given he’s listed at 5-foot-10. He makes up for it with exceptional quickness, explosiveness and beyond-his-years craftiness.
43 Hoops has been one of the top teams in the state this AAU season and Hardrict has been a catalyst for that success.
“The [Northstar Hoops] state tournament was probably our best tournament of the season,” Hardrict said. “We started the year really well but had a couple rough ones in the middle. We’ve really figured out how to play together and things have come together nicely lately.”
Hardrict is a floor-general type point guard. He’s excellent and controlling the tempo of games and does his best work in ball-screen actions where his ability to probe the paint to either get a shot for himself or a teammate is advanced. His in-between game is very strong and he’s got a variety of shots he uses in traffic to score over length. He’s a tough defender as well and he uses his quickness around screens and low center of gravity to leverage against opposing ball handlers.
Hardrict has had to make some adjustments in his game for his AAU team but he’s been more than willing to adapt his role for the team.
“I started the season off playing kind of rought because it was a new team but lately I’ve been feeling a lot better,” said Hardrict. “Finding my spots more and learning where I can fit and what I can bring to the table.”
Hardrict has drawn some Division III interest namely from schools including Gustavus, St. Johns and Wisconsin-Stout. 43 Hoops has a few more tournaments left this summer and Hardrict said he’s hoping to improve as a player and draw more interest.
“I’d just like to get better all around,” said Hardrict. “Get looked a little more and get myself out there. As a team I just want to win as many games as possible in our last three tournaments.”
