Recruiting Report: Mike Grimes (2018)
Mike Grimes, a class of 2018 guard at The Potomac School, is part of a strong returning core for the Panthers. The lefty is ultra competitive, and is a strong candidate to build off his success from last season.
“I would describe myself as a Lightning quick and explosive guard, with an good midrange jumper & shooting range. A natural play maker for teammates,” Grimes explained. “I do a good job of wearing down opposing point guards with pressure defense. Not letting them get into their sets easily.”
Grimes was top three on his team in scoring, made threes, assists, made free throws, and steals last season. He does a bit of everything well. Grimes continues to put in work this offseason in anticipation of a big senior campaign.
“I’m working on attacking the rim more, getting to the line, looking to put more pressure on the defense. Last season I felt like I settles for jumpers to many time. I’ve improved on using my athleticism to get inside,” said Grimes. “I’m continuing to work on everything but mainly playing with pace, change of speed, and decision making.”
Grimes has a 3.2 GPA at the Potomac School. He’s yet to land his first division one offer, but has interest from Radford and Lafayette. What can Grimes bring to a college program?
“A playmaker, and someone who gets after it everyday to get better.”
