Recruiting Report: Kendle Moore (2018)
Kendle Moore is a quick and shifty point guard out of Danville. The explosive lead guard played at a high level when we saw him in the spring with Team Rose. He is a speedy point guard that makes a lot of his plays in the open floor. It is becoming apparent that he has made significant strides on his perimeter shot. We saw the growth in it during the season and it has continued. The majority of his scores are transition layups and threes. Moore played off the ball a good portion of the time we evaluated him. Projecting as a mid-major/low-major scoring point guard.
Moore spoke about the year at Danville.
“This year went very well. We went 22-9 and made it to the sectional final where we lost to a good Edwardsville team. Overall I think we did pretty good. We didn’t have any seniors so next year we will have the majority of our team coming back so I feel we will have another good year. This year I feel I played very well. I tried to lead my team like coach asked me too. I tried to make sure after every game we came out victorious.”
What were the biggest areas of growth he saw?
“Being a leader and scoring. As you know the senior we would have had Nico Johnson left so I had to fill in some big shoes. I tried to fill it in and do what I could do.”
The Pontiac Holiday Tournament was one of his breakout performances especially against Curie.
“That gave me a lot of confidence after the Pontiac Tournament. I played very well there. I took that mentality into the rest of the season and into the playoffs.”
He is running with Team Rose on the Adidas circuit this spring.
“Team Rose has been great. We are learning each other’s strengths and weaknesses and trying to get better.”
What is an area of focus in his game this spring?
“Probably getting the ball up the court. JO wants us to play a fast tempo so we are trying to get the ball and go.”
He updated us on his recruitiment.
“Recruiting is going good. I have offers from Illinois State, Loyola, William & Mary, Drake, and Toledo. Interest from Tulsa, Little Rock, and Boise State.”
What schools is he feeling the most right now?
“The best relationships I have right now are probably William & Mary and Illinois State right now.”
Illinois State had a big season with a point guard in a similar mold as Moore.
“They have a good coaching staff and a good facility. It is not too far away from home. It is right around the corner and feels at home.”
William & Mary is making a strong push for the Danville lead guard.
“Their coaching staff is great. There is just something about them. I have never visited there yet, but there is just something about the coaching staff and the way they talk to you and get you engaged that makes you feel nice.”
No visits planned at this time for the talented point guard.
