Recruiting Report: Ethan Conley (2019)

Franklin-Monroe’s star sophomore Ethan Conley (2019) had a breakout season last year and he looks to have an even bigger year in 2017. Ethan was 1st Team all-CCC and helped lead the Jets to a second place finish in the conference. “I feel like I stepped up as a leader for my team, which is a big responsibility”.
What makes Ethan an incredible player is his playmaking ability. He can beat defenders off the dribble or can knock down shots from beyond the arc. This inside-out offensive mentality plus his incredible rebounding skill makes Ethan an offensive nightmare. Rebounding was something Ethan tells me he wanted to improve on, and it definitely showed throughout the season. “I’m averaging a lot more rebounds than I did last year”. Ethan’s ability to also find the open teammate if he is defended well also makes his game unique. Ethan still wants to improve on his quickness and ball-handling. “I feel like if I work on these, then I can be fully developed into an all-around player…I also want to play at the next level and I know these things will be required more so in college”.
Playing in a physical Cross County Conference has helped develop Ethan into a player that can play at the next level. Among some of the teams Franklin-Monroe faced this year were Tri-Village and Bethel. Because of the talent he has, Ethan has faced multiple defensive looks from these teams and the other members of the CCC, including double teams, triple teams, and being face guarded. This has helped Ethan because he knows what certain defenses look like and how to beat it. With two more years to play in high school, he will continue to learn and use this knowledge wherever he plays college basketball in the future.
Ethan has not received any offers at this time, but has received interest from 3 schools. Two D1 schools (Wright State and East Tennessee State) and one D2 school (Findlay). I expect Ethan to pick up even more offers once high school season comes upon us, and that he will continue to put up big numbers while leading the Jets as a junior.
