Recruiting Report: DJ Henderson (2019)
2019 guard DJ Henderson is going to be the main guy for Wharton this season out of the backcourt.
Alongside fellow rising Darin Green Jr., the two are a dangerous duo. Henderson is a lengthy guard and ballhandler at 6’5″, 165 lbs.
He served as the backup point guard a year ago and says that he learned a lot about how to run a team. Henderson says he feels that his capabilities as a leader grew the most, having to be a coach on the court.
Henderson is running with the Team CP25 this summer.
“I’m focused on improving my strength and working on my 3 point shot,” Henderson told Prep Hoops Florida. “It’s been going well, I’ve gained some weight since the high school season ended and I’m working on my jump shot.”
It all started for Henderson at age 7 during his YMCA days.
He pointed to his ability to attack the basket, make plays for his teammates, basketball IQ and size as his biggest strengths. Henderson is aiming to improve his outside shot, strength and lateral quickness.
No offers have come yet for Henderson, but he’s drawn interest from Yale, Brown, Princeton, Stetson, Penn and Rice. They will come soon, this kid is smart as can be and he plays a patient style of basketball. When he needs to attack, he will, evident by some of his powerful slams. Henderson is a low-Division I prospect.
