Recruiting Report: Dadrian Hoambrecker (2018)
Midway through last season, then-junior Dadrian Hoambrecker decided to make a switch and transfer from Burlington to eventual state champion Iowa City West.
And at 6-foot-5 with a versatile set of skills, the rich got richer in Iowa City.
Hoambrecker is a big, dynamic playmaker with an ability to play inside and out.
Some college coaches have taken notice.
“I’ve got a few interested, but not a lot. I’ve gotten letters from some JuCo schools, and some D3 schools.”
Iowa’s 82nd-ranked 2018, Hoambrecker mentioned Simpson, Milwaukee School of Engineering and Grand View as a few that are in on him early.
“I’m hoping a lot more college coaches notice me this summer, and what I can do,” said Hoambrecker, who defined his skill-set to PHIA.
“I’m good at driving, I need to work on my shooting a lot and I need to work on defense too, but I think that’s improving a lot. I’m also really working on being a team player.”
After leaving Burlington last winter, Hoambrecker had to sit out the second semester of the hoops season. He’ll be eligible to play right away as a senior with the Trojans.
“Things just aren’t good at Burlington, they haven’t won that many games the last few years at all. I wasn’t really going to do anything there or get noticed or anything. So I just wanted to transfer to a better school and show what I could do there,” said Hoambrecker, who has been playing with his new Trojans teammates now for several months, at open gyms and team camps.
“I’m playing decent, I come in as like the sixth or seventh man. We’re going to be really talented and really big,” he said. “I need to rebound a lot, pass-and-cut and just move the ball around.”
This summer, he’ll play with Iowa Dynasty 17U.
“My goals for the summer are to get some exposure and get my name out there,” said Hoambrecker. “I’m hoping to improve my defense and my shooting a lot, so I can play a lot next season with West.”
