Recruiting Report: Connor Crane (2018)
As a 6’5” athlete, Connor Crane is an interesting prospect in the 2018 class from South Dakota. The Sturgis Brown High School student athlete is catching eyes with his versatility and athleticism.
Crane played a large roll on Sturgis’ team last year and hopes he can help the team do well again this year. Making it to the State AA tournament is his main goal.
“Last year was a good season and a good learning experience,” Crane told PHD. “We fell short of our goal as a team though, which was to make it to the state tournament.”
Crane is the ultimate team guy and loves the process of getting better everyday. He is dedicated to his workouts, his team’s success and overall just making sure he is having a great experience every time he steps on the floor. Crane has good length and has shown the ability to block shots on the defensive end. He hopes that he can continue to improve his game on both ends to help his team win.
“The goal this year is simple – make it to the state tourney. I’m not concerned about personal goals or accolades, this is a team goal. Any personal awards or stats is something that I’m not concerned about.”
This summer, Crane has played well for the South Dakota Attack and he has enjoyed playing with a different group of guys.
“I’ve really enjoyed my experience with the Attack. I get to play with guys from Iowa and the Sioux Falls area. They are a great group of guys and I really look forward to my time with them.”
Although personal goals are not something that Crane talks about or is concerned with, one goal he does have is to continue athletics after high school. He visited USF over the weekend and talked with their basketball program. Crane has gotten some interest from some NSIC and NAIA schools for both basketball and track.
